Antimicrobials for even more materials
Sureshield antimicrobials are robust. From plastic to metal and textiles to glass, Sureshield can be used to protect a wide variety of materials. Other materials that you can treat with Sureshield include:
Foam
Solid surface materials
Paper
Foam
Sureshield prevents the growth of odor and stain-causing bacteria, molds, mildews, and fungi on foam. Microbes can cause unwanted odors, unappealing stains, and physical degradation. Over time, foam becomes more and more susceptible to microbial growth unless the foam is treated with an antimicrobial. Sureshield prevents odors, stains, and product degradation caused by microbes on foam.
Sureshield treatments for foam are typically added to the liquid polyol stream prior to the polymerization reaction. Sureshield becomes part of the foam itself once it is added and processed and thus typically lasts the useful life of the foam.
Solid surface materials
Solid surface materials used in countertops and other surfaces can be treated with Sureshield to provide an additional level of protection from the growth of odors and stains caused by bacteria and other microorganisms. Sureshield works with most types of solid surface materials:
Alumina trihydrate (ATH)
Acrylic
Epoxy
Polyester
Add Sureshield to the resin mix when you add filler and pigment. Then proceed with manufacturing as normal. Alternately, add Sureshield to any coated finish that you already apply to your solid surface material.
Paper
From documents to labels and sheets to boards, paper can harbor unwanted microbes. Sureshield inhibits the growth of odor and stain-causing bacteria and other microorganisms on paper.
Sureshield can be added to the sizing prior to adding it to the paper surface. You can also use Sureshield in conjunction with binders on the coating layer of the paper.
